Again this year, the Vodafone Foundation of Germany, the German Association of Philologists and the Heraeus Foundation presented awards to schoolteachers who were nominated by their students.
created the introduction trailers and directed the entire production while assuming responsibility for all technical support. The two-hour event was also streamed on the client’s website so that participating schools could experience the awards ceremony live.
Petra Gerster hosted the event, which was attended by Chancellor Angela Merkel, who presented the prizes to the winners of the competition. Lorenz Behringer capped off the evening by playing two classical pieces on the marimba.

Two screens on either side of the stage displayed a full-HD projection of an edited mix from two cameras, as well as introduction trailers. The stage itself was cast in a dynamic range of lighting effects, appropriate for the various parts of the program. This enabled the smooth direction of audience attention to the screens during the presentation of the videos about award winners, as well as back to the stage for speeches, discussion, and the awarding of prizes. The entire event was also streamed live for the first time on the Internet, where it could be viewed at www.lehrerpreis.de.
Because of the presence of well-known guests and the high-profile nature of the event, the client placed the highest priority on overall quality and the complete avoidance of glitches. To respond appropriately,
decided to supply backups not only for projectors but also for data cables. In the run-up to the event, the bandwidth of the video stream was tested together with the client in order to get it down to the smallest comfortable size, so that viewers with slower Internet connections and lower-performance IT hardware could still enjoy the stream. The light installation in the foyer and in the halls of the axica congress center was designed with wireless, battery-operated LED spotlights in high-gloss fixtures.
